2024 RESULTS;
Bungay & Waveney Valley Golf Club held the last Junior Open on Sunday 1st September and The 2024 Series was all up for grabs!
Played on a warm dry day, the event was a great success again and with conditions good, excellent scores were seen, both in the gross and net categories.
With James Sadler (Ipswich) and Henry Ridgeon (Stowmarket) taking 1st and 2nd on the day, it was George Swallow (Halesworth GC) who came in 3rd and secured The Open Series gross category with sufficient points to pip Patrick Coffey (Woodbridge) in this final Junior Open.
In the net competition, low scores were evident with local Alex Turner (Bungay & Waveny Valley) winning with a low net 63, closely followed by Henry Ridgeon (Stowmarket) and Alfie Rackham (Halesworth) on net 64, Henry on countback. This win also meant that Alex also went on to win the Junior Open Series net prize for 2024.
For the Girls, Abigail Hope (Bungay & Waveney Valley) won the gross on the day with an 88, just beating Shannon Noble (Ipswich) on countback. The net prize of the day went to Jessica Rogers (Bungay & Waveny Valley) with an excellent net 75.
Josie Knights (Ipswich) remained at the top of both 2024 categories and has sucessfully defended her gross category win with very consistent golf throughout the season. Shannon Noble (Ipswich) therefore takes the net category win for 2024.
Many congratulations to George Swallow, Alex Turner, Josie Knights and Shannon Noble for winning their particular categories and presentations will be made at The Race to Aldeburgh day, on Sunday 20th October - venue to be decided due to course reconstruction at Aldeburgh. The winners will be advised shortly.
